AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates as a multinational specialty property and casualty insurer. It has three segments: Small Business Workers’ Compensation Insurance, Specialty Risk and Extended Warranty, and Specialty Middle-Market Property and Casualty. The Small Business Workers’ Compensation Insurance segment provides coverage for the statutory obligations of employers to pay medical care expenses and lost wages for employees, who are injured in the course of their employment. It offers workers’ compensation insurance to small businesses, such as restaurants, and physician’s and other professional offices. This segment distributes its products in 31 states and the District of Columbia through a network of approximately 8,000 independent wholesale and retail agents. The Specialty Risk and Extended Warranty segment primarily serves manufacturers, service providers, retailers, and third party warranty administrators that provide coverage for accidental damage, mechanical breakdown, and related risks for consumer and commercial goods, such as consumer electronics, consumer appliances, and automobiles. It distributes its products primarily through warranty administrators and brokers, and also directly in Europe and the United States. The Specialty Middle-Market Property and Casualty segment underwrites workers’ compensation, general liability, commercial auto liability, and commercial property coverage for small and middle-market businesses. It distributes its products through 10 general and other wholesale agents in the United States. AmTrust Financial Services is headquartered in New York City.
