The Information Technology Consulting segment provides information technology staffing and consulting services. It also offers support for its software products, such as software enhancements, documentation, updates, customer education, consulting, systems integration services, and maintenance. The company serves retail, apparel, consumer-packaged goods, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, industrial products, and other manufacturing industries. American Software was founded in 1970 and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

For the six months ended 31 October 2006, American Software, Inc.'s revenues rose 13% to $40.4M. Net income rose 66% to $3.1M. Revenues reflect an increase in income from enterprise resourse planning segment, higher revenues from collaborative supply chain management and increased IT consulting revenues. Net income also reflects higher operating profits, absence of provision for doubtful accounts and higher interest income.
