This segment also provides finishing services for the metal and plastic components. Its products include aluminum framing systems. This segment markets its products through direct sales, distributors, and independent representatives to general contractors, building owners, architects, and glazing subcontractors in the nonresidential commercial construction market primarily in North America. The Large-Scale Optical Technologies segment manufactures glass and acrylic products for the custom picture framing market, and produces optical thin coatings for consumer electronic displays. This segment distributes its products through mass merchandisers and independent distributors; directly to museums, and public and private galleries; and through independent distributors in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The company was founded in 1949 and is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

For the forty weeks ended 2 December 2006, Apogee Enterprises, Inc.'s revenues rose 15% to $593.5M. Net income rose 19% to $22M.
