CB&I operates in approximately 70 countries worldwide, principally in the United States, the Netherlands, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Pacific Rim, South America, and the Middle East. The company was founded in 1889 and is based in The Hague, the Netherlands.

For the nine months ended 30 September 2006, CBI's revenues rose 42% to $2.25B. Net income totaled $78.4M, vs. a loss $1.2M. Revenues reflect increase from the North America, Europe, Africa & Middle East, Asia Pacific and Central & South America regions. Net income also reflects improved gross margin, lower interest expense and higher interest income due to higher short term investment levels & higher associated yields.
