It also operated gas utilities, including 604 miles of intrastate gas transmission pipelines, and 11,364 miles of gas distribution mains and service lines. The company was founded in 1917 under the name Missouri Public Service Company and changed its name to UtiliCorp United, Inc. in 1985. Further, it changed its name to Aquila, Inc. in 2002. Aquila, Inc. is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri.

Revenues reflect higher sales from Electric Utilities segment due to rate increases & higher customer billings and increased Gas Utilities division income. Higher loss reflects higher operation & maintenance expenses, increased loss on sale of assets and increased interest expense.
