The company also provides system installation, operator and manager training, on-site hardware maintenance, customized software development, application software support, credit card software support, systems configuration, network support, and professional consulting services, as well as software-hosting capabilities. In addition, it sells spare parts, printer ribbons, paper, printer cartridges, other consumable media supplies, network products, and printers through direct sales offices, dealers, and distributors, as well as telephone and an on-line service called POS Depot. MICROS Systems operates in the United States, Europe, the Pacific Rim, and Latin America. MICROS Systems Inc. was incorporated as Picos Manufacturing, Inc. in 1977 and changed its name to MICROS Systems Inc. in January 1978. The company is headquartered in Columbia, Maryland.

For the three months ended 30 September 2006, MICROS Systems, Inc.'s revenues increased 14% to $173.7M. Net income increased 22% to $15.1M. Revenues reflect an increase in sales from hardware division due to overall sales volume increase, higher sales from service division due to expansion of our customer base and increased installation sales.
