The Financial Guaranty segment insures and reinsures municipal bonds, structured finance transactions, and other credit-based risks, as well as provides credit protection on various asset classes through financial guarantees and credit default swaps. This segment serves financial institutions that structure, underwrite, or trade securities issued in structured finance obligations. The Financial Services segment specializes in credit card and bankruptcy-plan consumer assets, as well as originates subprime credit card receivables and has various other similar ventures related to consumer assets. It has operations in the United States, Germany, Hong Kong, Australia, the Netherlands, and Denmark. The company was formerly known as CMAC Investment Corporation and changed its name to Radian Group, Inc. in June 1999. Radian Group was founded in 1977 and is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
