Commerzbank AG is a private-sector bank providing financial services to private and corporate customers in Germany. It has a national network of over 700 branches. Internationally, the Company's activities are concentrated primarily in Europe. Additional operations are maintained in key markets such as the United States. Commerzbank also has participations in, and cooperations with, a number of institutions worldwide. The Company primarily offers retail banking, wholesale banking and investment banking services. It also offers specialized services through a number of subsidiaries, such as leasing, fund management, real estate and equity investment.

For the six months ended 30 June 2006, Commerzbank AG's interest income increased 31% to EUR8.12B. Net interest income after loan loss provision increased 26% to EUR1.5B. Net income increased 80% to EUR1.03B. Net interest income reflects rise in income from lending & money market transactions and higher dividends from securities, partially offset by rise in interest expense. Net income also reflects rise in net commission income and higher trading profit.
