| BP p.l.c. is an oil company with three main businesses: Exploration and Production; Gas, Power and Renewables, and Refining and Marketing. Exploration and Production includes oil and natural gas exploration and field development and production, together with pipeline transportation and natural gas processing. | Royal Dutch Petroleum Company owns a 60% interest in Royal Dutch/Shell Group. The Shell Transport and Trading Company, p.l.c. owns the remaining 40%. The companies of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group are engaged worldwide in all the principal aspects of the oil and natural gas industry. They also have interests in chemicals and additional interests in power generation, renewable energy (chiefly in wind and solar energy) and other businesses. As Parent Companies, Royal Dutch and Shell Transport do not directly engage in operational activities. The Parent Companies own the shares in the Group Holding Companies but are not part of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies.
